Product details

ATR-L multi wavelength automatic refractometer
ATR-L digital fully automatic spectral refractometer, including independent electronic unit and stainless steel measuring probe. Dispersion measurement of 7 wavelengths across the entire visible light range. Only 0.3ml of liquid is needed for accurate measurement. This series of refractometers integrates Peltier electronic temperature control (no additional water bath or other temperature control kit required)
Digital multi wavelength dispersion measurement
Refractometers are widely used in food, oil, fuel, and other industries, especially for measuring the concentration of mixtures to monitor the condition of manufacturing processes. They measure the critical angle of total reflection and calculate the refractive index from this value. The refractive index of a substance depends on the wavelength of light, and typically the shorter the wavelength, the greater the refractive index.
In order to more accurately describe this characteristic, Abb è introduced the concept of "Abbe value", which is a dimensionless reference value calculated at wavelengths of 486, 546, and 656 nm. Nowadays, the Abbe value is less commonly used because with the development of technology, high-precision refractometers can accurately measure refractive values with a resolution of up to 0.00001. However, there is relatively little research on the refractive index at other unconventional wavelengths, and this information can provide more "fingerprint" spectral information about the material itself. Common "dispersion phenomenon": Many different chemical substances exhibit more pronounced dispersion at short wavelengths than at visible wavelengths. This makes it easier to distinguish substances that exhibit extremely similar behavior at a wavelength of 589nm (sodium spectral line) under shorter wavelength light.
Because the modern light source of LED can provide various wavelengths of light sources and is easy to use, it has promoted the development and research of multi wavelength automatic refractometers, which can achieve fast and simple dispersion measurement. The use of discrete LED light sources allows for real-time measurement of quasi spectra (dispersion) by combining various custom wavelengths specified by customers in the instrument.
Schmidt Hanxi's multi wavelength automatic refractometer uses a CCD sensor based on the principle of total reflection for refractive index detection. Different LEDs (color/wavelength) are sequentially measured and displayed with corresponding different refractive indices. S+H has established a dedicated research center at its factory in Berlin to conduct research and provide standard data for calibrating such instruments.

Application:
The main applications of multi wavelength automatic refractometers are in scientific research and development fields, where a precise understanding of material properties is crucial. Other application areas include medical research (plastic lenses, contact lenses) and communication technology (polymer materials, special optical liquids, and adhesives).
A precise understanding of material properties is crucial for successful research and development. ATR-L can be used for medical development (plastic lenses, proteins...) and optical communication technology (polymer materials, special optical liquids, glasses, and adhesives). In the petrochemical industry, ATR-L can provide valuable services in scientific research and standard ASTM measurements.
The measurement principle of ATR-L is based on refractive index measurement covering different wavelengths of the entire visible light band, and the light absorption phenomenon in this band is also extremely sensitive, which can present the overall optical characteristics. For example, measuring juice can not only determine sugar content, but also provide valuable information about color and turbidity.
The measurement principle of ATR-L is similar to DNA analysis, providing unique fingerprint data for specific products. This fingerprint identification can be applied to high-quality products, such as wine, perfume, alcoholic drinks, etc., and can easily identify whether they are forgeries.
